Stellantis Cuts Q3 Loss by 90%, but €4 Billion Cash Outflow Continues

Stellantis has announced its third-quarter 2026 financial results, reporting a 90% reduction in net losses compared with the same period last year. The automotive group, which owns Peugeot, Fiat, Citroën, Opel, Jeep and several other brands, generated €37.6 billion in revenue during the quarter.

However, the official financial results published on 28 October 2026 reveal that the company's recovery remains incomplete. Despite improved profitability, Stellantis recorded approximately €4 billion in negative industrial free cash flow between July and September.

Stellantis Q3 2026 Financial Results

Stellantis reported net revenue of €37.61 billion in the third quarter, representing a 1% increase compared with the same period in 2025.

The company's net loss narrowed significantly, falling from €4.53 billion in Q3 2025 to €453 million in Q3 2026. However, the previous year's results were affected by substantial exceptional items, making the year-on-year comparison particularly important to interpret carefully.

Financial indicator 2025 Q3 2026 Q3
Net revenue €37.21 billion €37.61 billion
Net loss €4.53 billion €453 million
Adjusted operating profit €90 million €256 million
Adjusted operating profit margin 0.2% 0.7%
Industrial free cash flow –€4.30 billion –€4.01 billion
Consolidated vehicle shipments 1.30 million 1.29 million

Although adjusted operating income increased by 184%, the 0.7% operating margin shows that Stellantis is still generating relatively limited profitability from its operations.

The nine-month results present a more encouraging picture.

Between January and September 2026, revenue increased by 7% to €119.2 billion. Stellantis also reported a net profit of €217 million, compared with a net loss of €6.79 billion during the same period in 2025.

Electric Vehicle Sales Surge 65% in Europe

Electric vehicles were one of the strongest areas of Stellantis' European performance.

In the EU30 region, battery-electric passenger car sales increased by 65% year-on-year during the third quarter. Including Leapmotor vehicles, growth reached 93%.

The increase was supported by growing demand for models using Stellantis' Smart Car platform, including the Citroën C3 and C3 Aircross, Fiat Grande Panda and Opel/Vauxhall Frontera.

European vehicle shipments increased by 10% to approximately 588,000 units, while the group's EU30 market share declined to 14.8%.

This highlights an important distinction: stronger electric vehicle demand does not necessarily translate into improved profitability across the entire European business.

In fact, Enlarged Europe was the only Stellantis reporting region to record a negative adjusted operating result during the quarter.

Fiat Egea Phase-Out and New Fiat Grizzly Affect Türkiye

One of the most significant developments in the financial announcement concerns Stellantis' operations in Türkiye.

The company reported a 22% decline in sales across its Middle East and Africa region, citing weaker market conditions and temporary model transition effects in Türkiye.

In its official statement, Stellantis specifically identified the phase-out of the Fiat Egea ahead of the upcoming launch of the all-new Fiat Grizzly as one of the factors affecting regional performance.

The company also highlighted the start of local small van production in Türkiye during October 2026.

According to Stellantis' 13 October shipment report, vehicle shipments associated with the Turkish market declined by approximately 21,000 units compared with the previous year.

The transition is particularly important because Türkiye plays a substantial role in Stellantis' manufacturing and regional supply operations.

However, while the company has officially confirmed the Egea phase-out and upcoming Fiat Grizzly launch, the financial announcement does not provide detailed specifications, pricing or a confirmed customer delivery date for the new model.

North American Production Disruptions and South American Performance

In North America, Stellantis reported a 3% decline in revenue during the third quarter.

The company attributed the decrease partly to planned production shutdowns affecting several Jeep models, including the Grand Cherokee and Compass.

Meanwhile, Ram delivered stronger results.

Sales of the Ram 1500 increased by 73% year-on-year, while the Ram brand's overall North American sales rose by 30%.

In South America, Stellantis continued to hold a leading market position despite a 4% decline in regional sales.

The group maintained an 18.6% market share, supported by its established Fiat and Ram product ranges.

Individual Fiat models performed strongly, with Strada sales increasing by 13%, Toro by 26% and Pulse by 20%.

These results demonstrate the differences in demand, production conditions and profitability across Stellantis' international operations.

Stellantis Targets Positive Cash Flow in 2027

Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa confirmed that the company is continuing to implement its FaSTLAne 2030 strategy, focusing on cost reductions, manufacturing efficiency and aligning production more closely with customer demand.

Under its Value Creation Programme, Stellantis aims to achieve €6 billion in annualised efficiencies.

The company expects to have implemented measures representing at least 40% of that target by the end of 2026.

However, several financial pressures remain.

Stellantis estimates approximately €1 billion in net tariff costs for the full year, while additional expenses related to semiconductor memory chips and vehicle recalls could place further pressure on profitability.

Despite these challenges, management has reaffirmed its financial guidance and continues to target positive industrial free cash flow in 2027.

The third-quarter results therefore represent a meaningful improvement compared with 2025, but not a complete financial recovery.

Stellantis has substantially reduced its net losses and improved operating income, while its electric vehicle business continues to grow in Europe.

Nevertheless, low operating margins, significant cash outflows and weaker performance in markets such as Türkiye demonstrate that the company's restructuring and recovery efforts still face considerable challenges.
