BYD wins global automotive Brand of the Year at World Branding Awards
BYD has received Global Tier Brand of the Year recognition in the Automobiles category at the 2026–2027 World Branding Awards, presented at Hampton Court Palace in London.

BYD has been named Brand of the Year in the Automobiles category at the 2026–2027 World Branding Awards, receiving recognition at the programme’s Global Tier. The company announced the award on 3 November 2026, following its presentation at Hampton Court Palace in London.
The awards are organised by the World Branding Forum and distinguish brands at national, regional and global levels. BYD’s recognition falls within the international category rather than an award tied to its performance in a single national market.
How the brands are assessed
According to the organiser, brand valuation accounts for 30% of the overall score, market research for 40% and public online voting for the remaining 30%. The global category covers international brands present in at least 10 countries across three or more continents. It is therefore a branding award, rather than a comparative assessment of an individual vehicle’s engineering or road-test performance. (awards.brandingforum.org)
In BYD’s announcement, Executive Vice President Stella Li linked the recognition to earning customers’ trust through technology that delivers practical benefits in everyday use. She also reiterated the company’s aim of working with partners internationally to make sustainable mobility available to more people.
An international electric and plug-in hybrid range
BYD says its battery-electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles are now present in more than 120 countries and regions. The manufacturer points to its in-house capabilities in batteries, electric motors, electronic controllers and automotive-grade semiconductors as the foundation of its vehicle offering.
The announcement identifies the Blade Battery and Super Hybrid DM-i system as central technologies in that range. While BYD highlighted its strategy of addressing different customer requirements through electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, the award announcement did not introduce a new model, technical upgrade or market-launch timetable.
